I have been such a bad blogger recently and have been taking the lazy way out by only posting pictures or videos to show what’s been going on. This is because things here are still a little chaotic, and when I have free time, I don’t really want to sit and blog!
We are both still getting used to living in the northern Virginia area. Despite spending years and years in Charlottesville, northern Virginia is a whole new ballgame, even for me. It is very overwhelming. I am not a fan of the traffic AT ALL, and dislike having to plan my day around rush hours. It is weird to not be able to just spontaneously decide to have lunch with Brian during the week because between driving to meet him somewhere, eating, and driving home, that would be at least a two hour adventure. Even though Montana wasn’t necessarily our favorite place, there is something to be said for the proximity of everything and a general lack of people.
There are obviously perks to being here as well. Fort Belvoir is ten times (wait, make that 100 times) bigger and more “advanced” than Malmstrom, and there is a lot to do here (you just have to fight the traffic to do it!) And of course we have so many friends here…most of whom we still haven’t seen simply because of busy summer schedules. Someday we plan on having a housewarming party…someday.
In other news, Audrey is a mover and a shaker. She loves crawling and getting into trouble, and will now try to stand on ANYTHING she can reach. She will reach out for my hands to pull herself up, but won’t want to continue holding onto them, so she lets go and just falls. Someday, though, she will let go and stay standing. SO NOT READY FOR THAT DAY (or the walking that will soon follow.)
I love getting to see her learn, grow and develop every single day. She is such a funny, mischievous little girl and I love getting to see her happy personality emerge daily. I don’t think I could be more in love with anything in the world!
